Double matting technique.

This technique allows you to add some depth to your framing or introduce a pop of color. Rather a double mat is just two single mats stacked together two single mats with two different size windows stacked together so the window of the under mat appears as a band of color around the inside of the window of the over mat. A double mat is not what many people think it is. The finished fabric is entirely reversible lending itself to colorwork contrasting fibers or simply a finished piece that is twice as warm.

It s a pretty simple technique done by layering one mat on top of another so that the bottom mat acts as a decorative border around your framed artwork.
